Unlock Your Passion
Remember when you were a kid. You would try new things to do them. No one told you to do it, and you were merely led by your curiosity and excitement. Maybe you so someone doing something that interested you and you wanted to try it. So you did. The beautiful thing about it was, if you didn't like it, you just stopped doing it. There was no guilt involved, no angry debate, and no fear of upsetting or disappointing someone.
Most of the clients I work with share with me that they are hesitant to step out and unlock their passion for no other reason than fear. Fear of failing. Fear of feeling guilty. Fear of upsetting or disappointing someone else.
All of those fears are valid feelings. It is how most of us feel when we want to step out and try something that might be our calling. We are most concerned about other people's opinions about us and the things we choose.
My dear sister. Do I have a message for you today? It is time we stop caring about what other people think. We are giving someone else driving privileges to our lives, but they have nothing invested in the car.
Trust me, I know it can be tough to release what other people think about you and your choices, but your very own life is begging you to stop.
It is time for you to Unlock Your Passion.
What is a passion?
Passion is different than your purpose.
I found this definition in the Urban Dictionary, and I love it.
Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement; passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind, body, and soul into something as is possible.
Doesn't that definition bring a tear to your eye? It does mine. My favorite part of that definition is when it says that passion is ambition that "is materialized into action." Wow! Thnk about it. Passion is when something you love and want to do manifests so much energy that it spurs you into action.
Today, the journey to unlocking your passion (s) can seem to be a bit more work. Gone are the days are going out there and trying something new that interests you to unlock your passions. Instead, most of us sit back and wait for our passion to find us, or a situation, job, or relationship to bring our passion.
You will begin to unlock your passion when you go looking for the passion(s) in your life by being proactive rather than waiting for your passion to find you.
If you find yourself frustrated or not feeling very inspired or passionate about things, here are a few things to consider while you’re looking.
Look for the good.
What are you looking for?
Our brains most always default to negative things. Rather than focusing on the negative things, make it a point to focus on the good in your life, even good small things. Get your mind in the habit of focusing on the good things in your life.
Look to serve.
We feel best when we are working to help others. Where are you serving? What are some people or causes that stir your heart? Figure that out and then find ways to volunteer your time. When you are helping others and encouraging others, your passion will often show up.
Look at your attitude.
Attitude is everything. When you have a more positive attitude, it will be easier to feel passionate or find passion. Are you choosing an attitude that is conducive to finding your passion? Or do are you scaring it off with your negative attitude?
Remember, your attitude is your choice.
Be intentional about the journey to unlock your passion. Choose to open your eyes and see situations, your job, relationships, your life, in a different light when you do that you give yourself the chance to discover what your passionate about and start to create a life that means something to you.
