Unleash Your Potential


Are you living up to your full potential? What does it even mean, "live up to your full potential?


Potential, by definition, is the untapped ability to achieve great things.


While I agree with this definition, I also believe that potential is making the best of your life. We have a limited time on this earth, and as I am getting older, I am starting to realize that it has less to do with how long you live and more to do with what you do with the time you are alive.


I believe that unleashing your potential is about leaving everything you have on the table and living out all the dreams and aspirations in your heart.


Notice I said, living out all of the dreams and aspirations in your heart. Unleashing your potential doesn't have anything to with what other people or society thinks you should do with your life. Don't chase empty goals or objects.


Get clear about what you want and how you want to bring it into the world. Honor yourself and your calling.


This blog isn't about finding your potential. I believe that your potential is tucked away inside of you. I think that whatever dreams and aspirations you have that right now, just as you are, you have everything you need to Unleash your potential. Whatever you want in your life, you are more than enough.


However, I believe that we all get stuck and struggle to unleash our potential. I want to share with you six steps to help you uncover and unleash your potential.

Self-Awareness: Know who you are and what you want. If you don't, take the time to discover it. Read, write, think, and talk. Self-awareness is about being aware of your thoughts. When you have self-awareness, you learn more about yourself.


Commit to personal growth: This goes hand in hand with self-awareness. While you are good enough, just as you are, commit yourself to continue to grow and learn. You want to be a better version of yourself today than you were yesterday.


Set a goal to work toward: You've got to know where you want to go. What is it that you want? Set a goal. Make a plan and set your course to get there.


Take baby steps: What small step can you take today to get you where you want to be? I know that it can be a struggle to take a step forward. Trust me. But each little step you take builds your confidence and gets you closer to your goal. Action fights doubt!


Believe in yourself: What story are you telling yourself? The belief in yourself plays a huge role in your ability to achieve your goals. I heard someone say once to think of your belief in yourself as a tabletop. The legs are what supports those beliefs. The more legs you have under the table, the more stable it is and harder to topple.


When you are setting your goals, Believe it's possible for you to achieve them regardless of what anyone says, including yourself.


"Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle." -Christian D. Larson

This last one is the most important and the one that I hear most from my clients.

Get out of your own way: We are most often our biggest obstacle to unleashing our potential or living our best life for that matter.


I love this quote by Andrew Murphy:


"You are confined only by the walls you build yourself."


How true is that? When you find yourself standing in your way, go back to step 1: self-awareness and start over again. What are the thoughts you are having about what you are doing? What thoughts do you want to have about what you're doing?


Whatever it is you want out of life, I believe you can have it. When you have a moment of doubt, take a baby step in the direction you want to go. Believe in yourself and know that you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to.
