Do You Have Grit For Your Gift?
One of the hardest things I have ever done in my life was becoming an entrepreneur. People talk about how awesome it is to be your own boss, you get to do what you want, and create what you want. They make entrepreneurship sound like it's all rainbows and unicorns. 🌈 🦄
Let me tell you, I've seen a few rainbows, but I certainly haven't seen any unicorns in the last four years.
What they don't tell you are the countless hours you spend defining yourself or creating your personal brand because you no longer have a job description from your employer. You are the employer. They don't tell you about the emotional roller coaster you are about to get on. It's like get in line at the emotional buffet and load up on self-doubt, passion, fear, excitement, and frustration, and that is all before lunch. Being an entrepreneur is tough.
I hear my dad's voice in my head; "Nothing in life worth having is easy." He is so right. See, I have a life philosophy. I believe that every one of us is blessed with a gift that only we can have, and there is someone out there in the universe who waiting to receive your gift. My question to you is, Do you have the Grit for Your Gift?
What is Grit?
Grit is the raw endurance, perseverance, and passion that keeps you going despite any obstacles you may encounter.
Grit is being bold and pushing through the adversity. It is allowing yourself to step out of your comfort zone.
Speaking from experience, the first thing we want to do when things get tough is to bail. But we've got to keep the end in mind.
Here are three steps to help you activate your grit:
1. Failure is not a permanent condition. We don't like to fail because we are concerned about what other people will think of us for failing. Well, guess what? Who cares what anyone else thinks. Trust me; they have experienced their fair share of failure as well.
I love this quote about failure.
2. Don't give up! Do not give up on what you want most. Believe in your dreams and goals and take daily consistent actions to make your dreams a reality. Believe in yourself!
3. It's not about you. Whatever you are working towards has nothing to do with you, it is for someone else. Your gift is the answer to someone else's problem. There is a line of people waiting for you to have the grit for your gift.
