The Great Game of What If
You’ve got big dreams for your life. But something is standing in the way of those big dreams. That something is a big WHAT IF?
Do you worry? Do you lie in bed at night playing the GREAT GAME of WHAT IF? What if this happens? What if that happens? You play the movie reel over and over in your head of all the bad things that can happen. The thoughts on the other end of the WHAT IF paralyze you to make any moves in your life. It’s a vicious cycle and it can be hard to break the cycle.
Your WHAT IF encompasses worry, fear, and anxiety. When you feel one you usually feel all three.
All three are valid feelings that everyone experiences. You can't experience joy and happiness without experiencing the other side. And I can't begin to stress the importance of acknowledging your own feelings. It is essential for your emotional wellness.
The downside, which I see more often than not, is that you start allowing those feelings of worry, fear, and anxiety to dictate your life. They keep you stuck. They paralyze you and prevent you from living a life of abundance. They prevent you from creating a life that means something to you on your terms.
Two things can happen when you experience worry, fear, and anxiety. They can become your friends and your fence.
In an effort to control your fear, worry, and anxiety you make friends with them. You carry them around. You take ownership of them. You claim them as your own.
I remember watching an episode of Iyanla Fix My Life! She had a woman take a sack outside and for every negative feeling she had, she had to place a rock in it and carry it around. This sack was so heavy that she could hardly carry it around. Think about the GREAT GAME of WHAT IF? Think about all the things you’re worried, fear, and are anxious about.
How heavy is your sack?
Can all your worries, fears, anxieties add a single moment to your life? And if they can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying, fearing, or being anxious over bigger things?
Worry, fear, and anxiety rob you of the life you’re meant to live. They prevent you from stepping into your purpose and sharing your gifts with the world.
Your worry, fear, anxiety are the fence that prevents you from achieving your dreams. Take a moment and think about the biggest dream you have for your life. Now, think about what is stopping you from pursuing that dream? Fear of failure? Worry that you might make the wrong choice? Anxious at the very thought of stepping out of your comfort zone? Each one is a fence that prevents you from creating a life that means something to you on your terms.
Are you willing to climb the fence and see what is on the other side?
Are you ready for some good news? Just because you feel a certain way doesn’t mean you have to stay there. You can choose how you feel about anything in your life.
I want to leave you with one last thought:
WHAT IF you allowed worry, fear, and anxiety to rule your life? What kind of life would you have?
What opportunities have you missed out because you played the Great Game of What If?
How does that make you feel?
How are worry, fear, and anxiety preventing you from creating a life that means something to you on your terms?
What is one small step you can take today to choose something different than worry, fear, and anxiety?
How can I support you? Please feel free to post in the comments section below or send me a DM. I would love to hear from you.
Make today amazing!
